Description

We are a proud provider of Vanadis NIPT. A Swedish invention with impressive effective performance, analyzed in our own laboratory.

NIPT is a non-invasive method that can be performed from week 10 of pregnancy to detect common chromosomal abnormalities such as trisomy 21 (Down syndrome), trisomy 18, and trisomy 13, as well as sex chromosome abnormalities. Analysis of microdeletions etc are not performed.

The test carries no risk of miscarriage, unlike invasive methods such as amniocentesis or chorionic villus sampling (CVS).

Benefits

No risk of miscarriage due to non-invasive sampling
Very high accuracy, approximately 99% for trisomy 21
Can be performed early in pregnancy, from week 10
Fast results, usually within 3–7 working days
Ability to analyze sex chromosomes
Provides increased reassurance and safety for parents

Process

The test requires a standard blood draw from the pregnant woman, which is sent to the laboratory following established protocols. Sampling can be done at a primary care center, specialist clinic, or facility offering NIPT.

In the laboratory, circulating fetal DNA (cffDNA) in the mother’s blood is analyzed using Rolling Circle Replication (RCR).

Results are interpreted by specialist laboratories that assess the presence of chromosomal abnormalities and if chosen sex chromosomes. A report is sent to the ordering healthcare provider for further counseling of the parents.

How it works

After sampling, DNA is isolated from the blood sample and analyzed with advanced molecular genetic techniques.

Rolling Circle Replication (RCR) providing rapid and cost-effective results with high precision for common trisomies.

The final report is delivered to the ordering clinic or healthcare provider and serves as a basis for continued pregnancy care and possible further investigations.
